Garage door repair, springs, openers and new doors across Bastrop and the Lost Pines area. Same-day service for urgent calls and emergency help 24/7.
R&Y Garage Door Repair is a family-owned garage door company based in Taylor, TX, about 45 minutes from Bastrop via SH-95. The team repairs and replaces springs, cables, rollers, openers and panels, installs new residential and commercial doors, and handles emergencies 24/7. The owner, Rene, is on most jobs himself.
Everything a Bastrop garage door needs, from a same-day spring fix to a full new door, handled by the same local team.
Humidity makes springs rust and weaken faster in Bastrop. R&Y replaces broken or corroded springs with correctly sized ones, replaces rusted cables and rollers in the same visit when needed, and balances the door so the opener is not overworked.
Openers that hum but do not move, reverse for no reason or stopped pairing with remotes are repaired when it makes sense. When it does not, R&Y installs quiet belt-drive or smart openers from LiftMaster, Chamberlain or Genie and sets up the myQ app.
Steel, insulated, wood-look, carriage-style and full-view glass doors, measured, delivered and installed with new tracks and weatherstripping, then balanced and tested with the opener before the crew leaves.
One dented section does not always mean a new door. When a matching panel is still manufactured, only that section is replaced. Doors that jumped the track are realigned and the cause, often a worn roller or frayed cable, is fixed too.
A door stuck open at night or a car trapped inside cannot wait. R&Y takes emergency calls in Bastrop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays, and explains what is safe to do while the technician is on the way.
Overhead doors for shops, warehouses, offices and storage buildings in Bastrop: spring and cable repair, opener service and preventive maintenance that keeps business doors working.
Bastrop sits among the Lost Pines along the Colorado River, and the humidity, pine debris and mix of old and new homes shape what breaks:
| Neighborhoods | What R&Y sees most | Worth checking |
|---|---|---|
| Historic homes near downtown Bastrop Early 1900s to 1970s |
Wood doors, extension springs, detached garages, older openers. | Wood absorbs moisture in humid weather and gets heavier, which wears out springs and openers faster. |
| Tahitian Village and wooded areas in the Lost Pines 1970s to today, many homes rebuilt after the 2011 wildfire |
Rust on springs, rollers and tracks, pine needles and debris in tracks, sensors blocked by debris. | Keeping tracks clean and lubricating moving parts twice a year matters more here than in drier areas. |
| The Colony and newer subdivisions 2000s–today |
Builder-grade springs and openers, sensor alignment, balance issues. | A yearly tune-up keeps new doors quiet and balanced. |
Humidity and heat swings make springs and rollers in Bastrop wear faster than in drier parts of Central Texas. See R&Y’s maintenance plans.

I have used R&Y Garage for all of my maintenance and also for my recent purchase of new doors. Rene is excellent and responsive and worked hard putting me together a new door package to my exact specifications. This is the only company I will use now.

I called R&Y Garage Doors on a Friday when our garage door and opener suddenly stopped working. Rene came out the exact same day to get us taken care of. He tuned up the door and adjusted the tension, and made sure all of our remotes and the MyQ phone app were fully connected and tested before he left.

How fast can R&Y get to a Bastrop home?
R&Y is based in Taylor, about 45 minutes from Bastrop via SH-95. Most urgent calls, like a broken spring or a door stuck open, are handled the same day, and emergency service is available 24/7.
Why do garage door springs rust in Bastrop?
Humidity and temperature swings near the Colorado River cause condensation on steel parts. Over time that rust weakens springs and cables. Lubrication and an annual inspection slow it down.
Can R&Y help with a garage door on a rebuilt Bastrop home?
Yes. R&Y installs new doors and openers on new and rebuilt homes and services doors of any age in the Bastrop area.
Is it safe to open a garage door with a broken spring?
No. The spring holds most of the door’s weight, so lifting it by hand or with the opener can make it drop suddenly or damage the opener. Leave the door where it is, unplug the opener and call for service.
Does R&Y service commercial garage doors in Bastrop?
Yes. R&Y repairs, maintains and installs overhead doors for shops, warehouses, offices and other businesses in Bastrop and the surrounding area.
Are estimates free in Bastrop?
Yes. R&Y provides free, no-obligation estimates for repairs, opener replacements and new garage doors in Bastrop. Call (512) 736-7290 to schedule.
