Custom homes, lake houses and oversized doors for boats and RVs: R&Y Garage Door Repair services and installs garage doors in Spicewood and around Lake Travis.
R&Y Garage Door Repair is a family-owned garage door company based in Taylor, TX, about 75 to 90 minutes from Spicewood. The team repairs and replaces springs, cables, rollers, openers and panels, installs new residential and commercial doors, and handles emergencies 24/7. The owner, Rene, is on most jobs himself.
Everything a Spicewood garage door needs, from a same-day spring fix to a full new door, handled by the same local team.
A loud bang, a door that suddenly feels too heavy to lift, or an opener that strains and reverses usually means a broken spring. R&Y replaces springs sized to the door’s weight and balances the door so the opener is not overworked. On two-spring doors, both are replaced together because they wear at the same rate.
Heavy and tall doors need the right opener. R&Y installs heavy-duty and wall-mount jackshaft openers from LiftMaster and others, with smart control so lake-house owners can check and close the door remotely.
Custom wood, carriage-style, full-view glass and oversized doors for lake houses, estates, RV and boat garages. R&Y measures, orders and installs the door with springs and an opener rated for its weight.
One dented section does not always mean a new door. When a matching panel is still manufactured, only that section is replaced. Doors that jumped the track are realigned and the cause, often a worn roller or frayed cable, is fixed too.
A door stuck open at night or a car trapped inside cannot wait. R&Y takes emergency calls in Spicewood 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays, and explains what is safe to do while the technician is on the way.
Overhead doors for shops, warehouses, offices and storage buildings in Spicewood: spring and cable repair, opener service and preventive maintenance that keeps business doors working.
Spicewood properties are larger and more custom than most of Central Texas, so garage doors are often bigger, heavier and more exposed to the weather:
| Neighborhoods | What R&Y sees most | Worth checking |
|---|---|---|
| Lake Travis waterfront and lake houses Varied |
Rust on springs, cables and tracks from humidity, doors that sit unused for weeks. | Doors that are not used often still need lubrication and a check before the season, or springs can fail on first use. |
| Hill Country custom estates and Briarcliff 1990s–today |
Oversized, heavy wood or custom doors, high-lift tracks, openers rated for heavy doors. | Custom doors need springs sized precisely to their weight. Guessing leads to early opener failure. |
| RV and boat garages, detached shops Varied |
Tall doors, high-cycle springs, heavy-duty or jackshaft openers. | Jackshaft (wall-mount) openers free up ceiling space in tall garages. |
Because Spicewood is farther from R&Y’s Taylor base, most visits are scheduled in advance. Emergency calls are still answered 24/7. See R&Y’s maintenance plans.

Can R&Y install garage doors for boats and RVs in Spicewood?
Yes. R&Y installs tall and oversized doors for RV and boat garages and pairs them with springs and openers rated for their size and weight.
Can a lake-house garage door be monitored remotely?
Yes. A smart opener with the myQ app lets owners check whether the door is closed, get alerts and open it for guests or service providers from anywhere.
Is it safe to open a garage door with a broken spring?
