Broken spring, dead opener or a door stuck open? R&Y Garage Door Repair sends a technician from nearby Taylor, usually the same day, and answers emergency calls around the clock.
R&Y Garage Door Repair is a family-owned garage door company based in Taylor, TX, about 20 to 25 minutes from Round Rock via US-79. The team repairs and replaces springs, cables, rollers, openers and panels, installs new residential and commercial doors, and handles emergencies 24/7. The owner, Rene, is on most jobs himself.
Everything a Round Rock garage door needs, from a same-day spring fix to a full new door, handled by the same local team.
A loud bang, a door that feels like it weighs a ton, or an opener that strains and reverses usually means a broken spring. R&Y replaces springs sized to the door’s weight and balances the door so the opener lasts longer. On two-spring doors, both are replaced together because they wear at the same rate.
Openers that hum but do not move, reverse for no reason or stopped pairing with remotes are fixed on the spot when the repair makes sense. When it does not, R&Y installs quiet belt-drive or smart openers from LiftMaster, Chamberlain or Genie and sets up the myQ app.
Steel, insulated, wood-look, carriage-style and full-view glass doors, measured, delivered and installed with new tracks and weatherstripping. R&Y helps Round Rock homeowners pick styles and colors that fit their HOA guidelines before anything is ordered.
One dented section after a hailstorm or a bump with the car does not always mean a new door. When a matching panel is still made, only that section is replaced. Doors that jumped the track are realigned and the cause, often a worn roller or cable, is fixed too.
A door stuck open at night or a car trapped inside before work cannot wait. R&Y takes emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays, and walks callers through what is safe to do while the technician is on the way.
Overhead doors for shops, warehouses, offices and storage buildings in Round Rock: spring and cable repair, opener service and preventive maintenance that keeps loading doors from failing in the middle of a workday.
Round Rock was built in waves, so the same neighborhood often has the same door, spring and opener in every garage. That makes failures surprisingly predictable. This is what R&Y runs into most in each part of the city:
| Neighborhoods | What R&Y sees most | Worth checking |
|---|---|---|
| Forest Creek, Brushy Creek, older homes near downtown Mostly 1980s–1990s |
Original extension springs and tracks, worn nylon or steel rollers, openers 20+ years old. | Doors installed before 1993 may lack the photo-eye safety sensors required on openers sold since then. Worth checking if kids or pets use the garage. |
| Teravista, Behrens Ranch, Mayfield Ranch Mostly 2000s |
Builder-grade torsion springs at the end of their life, openers 15–20 years old, dents on wide double doors. | Standard springs are commonly rated around 10,000 open-close cycles, roughly 7 to 10 years for a busy household. If the springs are original, plan for replacement. |
| Paloma Lake, Siena, newer subdivisions 2010s–today |
Sensor misalignment, loose hardware, weatherstripping, remotes and keypads that need reprogramming. | A yearly tune-up and a smart opener with a battery backup are the most useful upgrades at this age. |
Central Texas heat also dries out rollers and hinges and hardens rubber seals, and spring hail is the main cause of dented panels in the area. A short annual inspection catches most of these problems before they turn into an emergency. See R&Y’s maintenance plans.

I have used R&Y Garage for all of my maintenance and also for my recent purchase of new doors. Rene is excellent and responsive and worked hard putting me together a new door package to my exact specifications. This is the only company I will use now.

How fast can R&Y get to a Round Rock home?
R&Y is based in Taylor, about 20 to 25 minutes from Round Rock via US-79. Most urgent calls, like a broken spring or a door stuck open, are handled the same day, and emergency service is available 24/7.
Is it safe to open a garage door with a broken spring?
No. The spring holds most of the door’s weight, so lifting it by hand or with the opener can make it drop suddenly or damage the opener. Leave the door where it is, unplug the opener and call for service.
Should both springs be replaced if only one broke?
On doors with two torsion springs, replacing both at the same time is usually recommended. They were installed together and have gone through the same number of cycles, so the second one is typically close to failing too.
How long does a garage door opener last?
Most residential openers last around 10 to 15 years depending on use and maintenance. Loud operation, slow response, reversing without a reason or missing safety sensors are signs it is time to repair or replace it.
Can one damaged panel be replaced on a Round Rock garage door?
Often yes. If a matching section is still manufactured for the door model, only the damaged panel is replaced. If the model is discontinued, a full replacement that fits the neighborhood HOA guidelines is usually the better option.
Does R&Y work on commercial garage doors in Round Rock?
Yes. R&Y repairs, maintains and installs overhead doors for shops, warehouses, offices and other businesses in Round Rock and across Williamson County.
Are estimates free in Round Rock?
Yes. R&Y provides free, no-obligation estimates for repairs, opener replacements and new garage doors. Call (512) 736-7290 to schedule.
